As I promised you, I finally made pictures of the other top I made with the remaining rib-knit fabric. This time I made it a sleeveless, easy jersey knit v-neck top with flowers and leaves made from the same fabric and wooden beads.
If you own a serger, this is a great idea for some fresh, summer tops.
This one was very easy and quick to make, I think I will make another one with another piece of jersey knit I have. For the first time, I used Bertha for fittings. I have to say it is a lot easier to do with a dress form than without.
Here are some details of the finish.
The edges were finished with a long strip of fabric, this one cut along the rib lines, to prevent stretching. The bottom edge was serged, then folded and stitched with parallel lines.
I have a similar top that I had bought and that I don’t use outside the home because it is so ill-fitting, this one fits perfectly. I wish I had bought a dress form long ago.
Is anyone else using a dress form for sewing? Do you find them helpful?
And have a great weekend people, mine will be. I’ll share next week.
